We are a U.S.-based, internet-savvy, genealogy & family research firm with almost 20 years of experience. We have primarily done research in the US (coast-to-coast), UK, Finnish and emigration records and we have also researched French-Canadian, French, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian records! For the last two years, we have also done extensive NC research into the records of at least 15 different counties!
So, if you live in the US and would like to research your family both here and in the countries they emigrated from -- we are the researchers for you. Below are details on 4 specific areas of our expertise.
1. Emigrant families who came to the United States between 1880 and 1920 -- we have researched individuals/families from Belarus, Finland, France, Galicia and/or Poland, and the UK. This means we have experiences with records of these countries, emigration ports and passenger records, census records, birth/marriage/death records, cemetery records, directories, citizenship (naturalization) records and more.
We have also researched earlier 18th Century emigrants ... from France as well as French Canadians.
2. England & Wales & Scotland -- we have researched families with connections to at least 15 different UK counties, though with a particular emphasis on England -- Greater Manchester area (including Oldham, Hollinwood, Chadderton, Manchester, Failsworth and area), Wales -- Monmouth & Glamorgan, and Scotland -- Kirkcudbrightshire & Wigtownshire.
This means we have experience with census records, civil registration (Birth, marriage, death), directories, church records, tithe & apportionment documents, wills, burials and more.
3. North Carolina -- we have unique access to the records of North Carolina by living in its capital, Raleigh! We can help you with any records available at the NC State Archives and the State Library of North Carolina. We have done research in over 15 different counties and counting! We have done research into ex-slaves, mulatto’s and white plantation owners. We have done research in the records of the 18th, 19th & 20th centuries. We can either do "specific" records research for you or know that we have these resources available to us as we research your NC family.
We also have access to Wake County records in the Olivia Raney Collection and ready access to the Southern Historical Collection and, the North Carolina Collection, Wilson Library, UNC-Chapel Hill the Duke University Libraries - Special Collections and any other local repositories.
4. United States -- besides NC, we have researched the records of of New England (Massachusetts, New York, Vermont), Midwest (Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Wisconsin), Southwest (Oklahoma, Texas), Mid Atlantic (Delaware, Pennsylvania), West Coast (California, Oregon) and more states by the time you read this!
This means we have experience with census records and the various local records of these states. Please remember that there are "few" records kept on a national level in the US. Most records are kept on a state and/or county level and this various tremendously state-to-state and community to community! So, any project is pretty much a new adventure!
No project is too small for us! There is no required minimum!
FREE -- 30 minute consultation. Every project starts with a free consultation. You provide us with some basic information on who, what, where, when and your interests and we'll do some quick checking to see if we are the research firm for you and suggest a course of action. If we don't believe we can do your project in a cost-effective manner, we will suggest alternatives.
These rates do not mean you have to agree to the total project up front. It might be a case where we start with a 2 hour project, then agree to another 2 hours and end with another 2 hours ... you would then be charged our lowest hourly rate.
NOTE: Other fees are detailed on our web-site. Frequently, there is an additional cost to get a certificate, will or other document -- this is because the keepers of these documents are charging fees. These costs will be passed along to you, though, no costs for certificates or extra services will be incurred without your prior approval!
No surprises except the pleasant one of learning more about your ancestors!
