• Many years of experience, having undertaken research on a professional basis since 1986
• Living in Edinburgh with quick and easy access to all the major archives there.

Services

I undertake research in many sources available for research but the following are the main ones:

• Statutory Records 1855 to the present day
• Census returns (1841-1891)
• Old Parish Registers of the Church of Scotland,
• Kirk Session Minutes / Minor Church Records / Memorial Inscriptions
• Wills / Deeds / Sasines (buying and selling of property and/or land)
• National Library including Map Library
• Living relative searches for legal and personal reasons
• Information found for your family is provided in the form of a typewritten report containing full transcriptions of all events pertaining to your family and also includes a brief pedigree chart.

Fees

Charges are £18.00 per hour which includes all fees apart from photocopying charges. There are separate charges for individual searches which are available on request. A search of 4-6 hours is the most popular length of search but shorter or longer searches are, of course, undertaken. An estimate of time and cost can be provided on receipt of your request. Payment is accepted in Sterling, local currency or Paypal; commission charges have to be added to the total invoice if using either of the last two mentioned.
